JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of Director of Clinics and Provider Relations the primary care physician provides medical services to patients in the Recovery clinic in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for providing direct primary care to patients including history taking, physical exam, diagnosis and treatment.

Actively promote the cooperation and coordination of Primary medical, and Specialty Medical care offered to our patients.

Assume quality of care for all patients.

Adheres to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times.

Assist in establishing medical policies, quality improvement procedures, evaluating current practices, policies and procedures.

Recommend changes in all clinical areas, and/or in general areas to improve the patient flow, medical records, billing practices, and appointment practices.

Assist the in designing, implementing and evaluating educational programs for patients and clinical staff.

Responsible for the directing and supervising the clinical staff, as appropriate.

Must become familiar with the Federal and State rules, regulations, and practices in a Community Health Center.

Complete special projects as assigned.

Maintain professional and technical competency and remain current relative to changes in the industry.

Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.  Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Attend and actively participate in scheduled internal meetings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees and contracted staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; clinical supervision; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Requires Medical Degree and Board Certification or Board eligibility in family practice, a valid license to practice medicine in the state of Wisconsin.
